Position Overview:
A mid-level IT infrastructure and network manager responsible for overseeing the design, implementation, maintenance, and security of our IT infrastructure and network systems.
Key Responsibilities:
1.Network Management: Manage and maintain the organisation’s network infrastructure, ensuring high availability, performance, and security.
2.Infrastructure Planning: Participate in the planning and design of IT infrastructure upgrades and improvements to meet the organisation’s evolving needs.
3.Hardware and Software Procurement: Select and purchase hardware and software components that align with the organisation’s goals and budget.
4.Team Management: Oversee a team of IT professionals, which may include network administrators, system administrators, and support staff.
5.Security Management: Implement and enforce security policies and protocols to protect the organisation’s data and network from cyber threats.
6.Budget Management: Manage the IT infrastructure and network budget, ensuring cost-effective solutions are implemented.
7.Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot and resolve network and infrastructure issues promptly to minimise downtime and disruptions.
8.Vendor Management: Interact with third-party vendors and service providers to ensure service level agreements (SLAs) are met.
9.Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation of network configurations, infrastructure diagrams, and IT procedures.
10.Compliance: Ensure that the IT infrastructure and network comply with relevant regulations and industry standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, ISO 27001).
Skills Required:
•Education: A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as information technology, computer science, or network engineering, is typically required. A master’s degree may be beneficial but is not always necessary.
•Experience: Mid-level managers usually have several years of experience in IT roles, including network or systems administration. 5-7 years of relevant experience is common.
•Certifications: Industry certifications can be advantageous. Examples include CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA, Microsoft Certified Azure Administrator, and ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) certifications.
•Technical Skills: Proficiency in network protocols, hardware, and software, as well as experience with virtualisation, cloud computing, and network security technologies.
•Management Skills: Strong leadership, communication, and team management skills are essential for coordinating IT teams and projects effectively.
•Problem-Solving Abilities: The ability to analyse complex issues and find practical solutions is crucial for troubleshooting and decision-making.
•Business Acumen: Understanding the organisation’s goals and how IT infrastructure supports them is important for making strategic decisions.
