Mahesh Kanumury - Chairperson

Mahesh Kanumury has over 20 years of operating, consulting and venture capital experience. Mahesh has an MBA from Harvard Business School, an MS in Engineering from Purdue University and BS in Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Chennai. Mahesh is currently the Managing Director and Founder of Arivali Partners where he provides advisory and investment services to a number of social enterprises. Mahesh was a General Partner at a $260M early stage venture capital fund based out of the Silicon Valley where he invested and successfully nurtured the growth and exit of technology companies. Mahesh also worked at McKinsey in the US where he led a number of high-impact initiatives at the CXO level. Prior to McKinsey, Mahesh worked at Schlumberger Technologies and Research where he led large scale software development efforts.

Sasidhar N Thumuluri - Managing Director & CEO

Sasi has two decades of experience in financial inclusion and capital markets in 20+ countries. He started his career at BASIX Social Enterprise Group where he was instrumental in designing and executing various innovative programs in microfinance and rural livelihoods. He rejoined the group in March 2014 and currently runs day-to-day business of Sub-K, a digital finance subsidiary that leverages mobile technology and local entrepreneurship to offer last mile banking and payment solutions to the underserved.

Previously, at International Financial Corporation of the World Bank, he led agri finance, housing finance and SME finance advisory verticals for South Asia. Prior to IFC, Sasi was with Habitat for Humanity International in Washington DC, where he successfully spearheaded the pioneering work of structuring a global fund for micro-housing and helped realign business strategies of various country programs. Earlier, at Microvest Capital Management in Bethesda MD, he had built and managed a large impact investment portfolio in Asia, Africa and Europe.

Sasi holds Master of Public Affairs from Princeton University and MBA from Indian Institute of Forest Management. He has also completed Accelerated Development Program from University of Chicago's Booth School of Business.

He regularly speaks at various national and international events and serves on the board in Business Correspondents Federation of India of which he is currently the Vice-Chair.

Devarakonda Sattaiah - Director

Devarakonda Sattaiah is the Director. He started his career as a Technical Assistant before joining BASIX. He joined BASIX as a Field Executive and rose to the position of Director, Operations, BSFL. His contributions to BASIX began with initiating micro-credit operations, beginning micro-insurance operations and setting up Corporate Human Resource Department in BASIX. He was instrumental in effecting key long-standing collaborations with insurance companies influencing them to make substantial changes in policy to adapt to the rural micro-insurance customer needs.

Mr Abhishek Agrawal - Nominee Director

Abhishek Agrawal joined Accion in July 2009 and is currently Accion'sWhole time Director, India. As an Accion representative, Mr. Agrawal serves on the boards of Vindhya E-Infomedia, Swadhaar FinServe, Saija Finance and IFMR Rural Channels and Services Pvt Ltd. He comes with extensive experience in financial management, strategy & business planning, and microfinance operations.
Mr. Agrawal had worked as CFO for more than 12 years in several countries, including at Swadhaar Microfinance starting in 2010, in his capacity as global staff for Accion.
In earlier roles, Mr. Agrawal worked with FINCA International as CFO in different affiliates. Prior to that, he acted as an advisor to the Institute of Chartered Accountants (ICAI), where he worked on number of projects in Municipal reforms & financial management for local municipal bodies. Mr. Agrawal has a Ph.D. in Municipal financial reforms and Chartered Accountant (FCA) from ICAI. He did his Masters of Business Administration with a specialization in finance at Rai International University.

Mr Christian B Ramm - Nominee Director

Christian B. Ramm is Investment Director at Nordic Microfinance Initiative (NMI), a public-private partnership investing in microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Asia and Africa.
He has previously experience as Finance Manager at the family office Ferd Social Entrepreneurs and Canal Digital Norway(Telenor Group), and Finance Manager and Country Director for Norwegian People's Aid in Angola. In addition, hehas been Managing Director atSchibsted Publishing (Sweden) and held several management positions at the Schibsted Media Group in Norway.He has also worked as a journalist for Finansavisen, a major financial newspaper in Norway.
Mr. Ramm holds a master's degree in Finance from Norwegian School of Economics (NHH)and University Mannheim, Germany and has completed studies in psychology at the University of Bergen, Norway. .

Ms Swati Desai - Director

Ms Swati Desai holds degree M.A.(Economics) University of Bombay and LLB from University of Delhi. She has had an illustrious carrier of 35 years with State Bank Group with wide experience of serving the banks in varied verticals including credit, retail banking and international finance. During her long career in the Bank, she has held many challenging assignments. Her last assignment was with SBI Securities Limited as Managing Director. She has long experience in SBI's treasury and hence financial markets. She was Managing Director of the broking arm of SBI for four years. She oversaw reorganisation of the Company and revamped processes and policies to set stage for growth. State of the art technology was developed and introduced to make the Company's on line presence the finest in the industry.

 Ms Swati Desai

Prachi Jain Windlass - Nominee Director

Prachi is a director at Michael & Susan Dell Foundation India LLP. As a member of the leadership team, she manages a portfolio of start-ups, NGOs and large-scale government partnerships. Prachi manages the balance sheet for the foundation's India investments.

Prachi is on the board of several for-profit education companies and advisory committees to state governments and education departments. She is passionate about the area of data driven education and has spearheaded the foundation's work in multiple ways, including: incubating service providers, creating role model states for classroom based assessments and embedding student learning based accountability in all portfolio companies.

Before joining the foundation, Prachi worked at Boston Consulting Group in Gurgaon, India and in the telecommunications sector at Qualcomm and Motorola. Prachi has over 15 years of diverse set of operational and leadership experience in India and US. Prachi has a bachelor's in electrical engineering from Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, a master's degree from University of Southern California, Los Angeles and MBA from the University of Chicago.

David Paradiso - Nominee Director

David Paradiso has over 14 years of international experience managing finance operations, private equity and venture capital. He serves as Board Member in Financial Institutions in Asia and Latin America. David holds an MBA focused on finance, international business and private equity from Brigham Young University (US) and Strategic Leadership on Inclusive Finance from Harvard University. David currently leads Maj Invest office in Mumbai, India.
